There is nothing new about a legal plan service; in fact they were in Europe back in the thirty's but they have started to become more commonplace in mainstream America. In America, legal plans have also become increasingly popular, as more companies have started to offer a variety of plans so individuals and business have seen their value. While legal plans do not provide full legal coverage, as that would probably be cost prohibitive; once a member pays their monthly or annual premium, they are entitled to a host of legal facilities they might not otherwise be able to afford.
The idea behind the legal plan service is to try and prevent the need to go to court which would not be covered by the membership plan but it can still save a great deal of money. However, other facilities are included with the plans that are used by individuals and businesses regularly as consultation with your attorney is included. This way a client using the legal prepaid service should be able to resolve legal matters that may have been causing concern for sometime and there is not restriction to how many times this can be done.
Usually ‘Last Will and Testaments' are also included with annual updates as part of the services plan and many include letters or calls on your behalf as well. This is a valuable service if you are having a dispute; as an awareness of attorney representation can clear up many issues with a 3rd party. It is also useful when legal contracts are presented, or sales agreements to have your lawyer look over them for any problems that could arise once they have been signed.
You will only have to pay extra but usually discounted, if you require your lawyer to attend court with you or additional legal help not part of the legal plan. There are a variety of legal plans available and the most basic plan is the individual or family plan; many legal service plans also offer business coverage, where they provide basic legal services tailored for a business. Of course many other types of legal plan exist and these may even be advertised in your workplace at a reduced cost or sometimes free; there is even a special plan for truckers.
There are some limitations and prepaid legal services are not designed to solve pre-existing or ongoing legal issues because the focus is on preventative care and access to an attorney for a consultation. Major legal issues that require any type of ongoing legal representation would not fall within the remit of a legal services plan but you would no doubt come to some arrangement with your attorney over such a matter Legal plans are a great way for ‘middle Americans' to be able to use legal representation at a fraction of the normal cost they would be expected to pay; this is a way for them to deal with everyday issues that they would not normally be able to afford to pursue.
